"I have tried, and tried, AND TRIED, to do something about how talkative I can be, to rein in my tongue, especially in group settings. You identified it posthaste, and we worked together. At first it was clunky, but we got better at it, and things went very smooth, save for one incident where I got extra-passionate about my 'pet issue' -- and even then, you were supportive about how to make things right, make things better.

Learning to speak less has been a central task of my graduate school experience. I don't know if I'm getting any better. But if I do, you will be receiving much of the credit.

As for the musicality of the song: it's a march. It's simple, it's effective, it suggests a flute melody. I thought you would appreciate it."
