about

JeKl:

"You appeared to be marveled by the things I knew, as though I were some font of infinite knowledge. But the funny thing to me is that I envy you. You are a fast learner, and you see good in so many places where all I can manage to find is either bad or boring.

If multiverse theory is correct, there's a universe where someone with your name and stature exists, and my name and stature exists, but our personalities are essentially swapped. Everything is possible given an infinite number of chances. Alternate Reality and all that.

Which is why the music in your piece is as it is. What you're hearing are 'clusters' -- groupings of adjacent notes on the piano played in unison: as though strings of adjacent universes are resonating at the edges with each other.

The melody that breaks through? Well ... it's a fun, simple one, but after the fact, listening to it as I write this commentary ... it reminds me of music from the game 'Chrono Trigger,' at a space called 'The End of Time' -- a physical space that existed outside time.

These abstract, cosmic ideas ... I think they have their value in social work and in therapy. Standard K-12 tends not to touch this stuff, and so many youth don't hear of it til college, if college is even an option. But, in fact, thinking deep thoughts and sharing those deep thoughts is a great way to connect with others. Don't you think so?

If I've given you anything, I hope it's that: take the JOY of new knowledge and pass it on to others. A lack of perspective, a lack of connection ... that may be its own kind of oppression. We can end it."
